What is it?
This project is the result of the PhD research field in "Appropriate Methodologies and Techniques in International Development Cooperation" of the University of Brescia.

The main purpose of this study is to identify the most critical areas in the educational environment of the Medicine and Nursing Science courses. Additionally, this research aims to analyze students’ attitude towards International Development Cooperation.

The results of the study will be useful to propose some improvements in the health education courses at your university.

Who is it for?
Students of Medicine and Surgery and Nursing Sciences of the Universities of Brescia and Pavia.

What are we investigating?
1. Students’ perceptions of the educational environment within the courses of Medicine and Nursing Sciences of two universities in the north of Italy, Brescia and Pavia.

The university of Brescia and the University of Pavia are two very different institutes, respectively the first is a younger and smaller university, mainly attended by local students; than the second is one of the oldest universities in Italy, big and attended by students from all over Italy and abroad. Since these two universities significantly differ, they are suitable for a comparison in terms of educational environment of health courses.

2. The interest and attitude of health care students in international development cooperation are analyzed to assess how health training can be improved in this area.

Which tools are used for the survey?
1. DREEM questionnaire (Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure): 50 questions divided into 5 areas that measure, through an internationally validated score, the degree of satisfaction of the learning environment
2. Questionnaire on students’ socio-demographic characteristics, on their training and their interests in international development cooperation

The results of this research will clearly identify critical areas of the educational context within your course and consequently some concrete and useful actions can be proposed to improve the healthcare training.
